About Kilimanjaro Candles & More

Candles for Slower Days & Meaningful Moments

Welcome,

Kilimanjaro Candles & More began with a simple love of fragrance, home and the way lighting a candle can completely change the feeling of a room.

But today, KCM means much more to me than candles.

I’m Grace, the founder of Kilimanjaro Candles & More. I grew up in Kenya and now live in Devon, where I create KCM from my home.

Before starting this business, I worked as a carer while studying for my degree in Health & Social Care. By the time I finished my degree, I was exhausted and overwhelmed, and I knew I wanted something different for the next chapter of my life.

I wanted to create something of my own.

But I also wanted whatever I built to have meaning beyond me.

And that became the beginning of KCM.

Why Kilimanjaro?

My Kenyan roots have always been part of this business.

Growing up in Kenya, I saw first-hand how something many of us consider an everyday necessity, sanitary pads, could be difficult for some girls and families to afford.

For a schoolgirl, something so simple can affect her dignity, confidence and even her ability to attend school comfortably.

I never forgot that.

So when KCM began, I knew I wanted this little candle business to eventually become a way of giving something back.

Today, £1 from every KCM candle sold helps provide sanitary pads for schoolgirls in Kenya.

It’s one small candle at a time, but I believe small things, done consistently, can become something much bigger.

Then Life Changed

Kilimanjaro Candles & More originally opened in 2022 and grew into a business I was incredibly proud of.

Then my health changed.

I became unwell and eventually had to make the difficult decision to step away from the business. What I thought might be a short break became almost two years away.

For a long time, I didn’t know whether KCM would ever return.

But in August 2026, I came back.

Not because everything was suddenly perfect.

And not because I had some enormous relaunch plan.

I simply couldn’t shake the feeling that I wasn’t finished with this business yet.

So I started again.

More slowly this time.

More intentionally.

And with a much clearer understanding of what I want Kilimanjaro Candles & More to stand for.

Candles Made for a Slower Home

Life can be incredibly noisy.

We’re constantly being encouraged to do more, move faster and fill every spare moment.

KCM is my little rebellion against that.

Our candles are created for the ordinary moments we sometimes forget to enjoy.

The first coffee of the morning.

A quiet kitchen after dinner.

Reading a few pages before bed.

A rainy Sunday at home.

Cooking something slowly.

Turning your phone over, lighting a candle and deciding that, for the next hour, you don’t need to be anywhere else.

That’s what I mean when I say:

Candles for Slower Days & Meaningful Moments.

You don’t need a perfect house or a perfectly organised life to create beautiful moments at home.

Sometimes you just need to notice the life you’re already living.

What Goes Into a KCM Candle?

Every KCM candle is made in small batches here in Devon.

I use a coconut and rapeseed wax blend chosen to create beautiful candles without using soy, palm or beeswax.

Fragrance is one of my favourite parts of candle making, and I work with carefully selected fragrance oils to create scents that don’t simply smell lovely, they help create a feeling in your home.

Some are fresh and uplifting.

Some smell like baking in the kitchen.

Some belong beside a book and a blanket.

Others make you want to close the curtains early and settle in for the evening.

And behind every finished candle is far more work than you might imagine.

Testing.

Pouring.

Cooling.

Checking.

Correcting.

Curing.

And sometimes repeating the process with four jars, or twelve, until I’m happy with it.

Handmade really does take time.

And I wouldn’t want to do it any other way.

More Than a Candle Business

Since reopening KCM, something unexpected has happened.

The giving side of this business has begun growing too.

Our customers have already helped provide sanitary pads to girls at Maviani Primary School near Nzambani Rock in Kenya, where many children come from very humble backgrounds.

And after learning more about the school, I discovered there was another need.

Some classrooms remain unfinished and need proper roofs and windows.

So for September 2026, I made an additional pledge:

£5 from every KCM order placed during September will go towards helping fund roofs for the unfinished classrooms.

This isn’t replacing our sanitary-pad mission.

It’s simply another opportunity for this little business to help where it can.

I don’t know yet where this part of the KCM story will eventually lead.

And perhaps that’s what makes it so special.

We’re building it as we go.

Welcome to the New Chapter of KCM

If you knew Kilimanjaro Candles & More before my illness, thank you for finding your way back.

And if you’ve only just discovered us, welcome.

You’re joining a very small business that is being rebuilt from the ground up.

There is no huge team behind KCM.

There’s me, creating, testing, pouring, packing, photographing, writing and slowly building this business again from my home in Devon.

My hope is that when one of my candles arrives in your home, it reminds you to slow down long enough to enjoy the ordinary things.

And I hope that knowing your candle is also helping someone else makes lighting it feel just a little more meaningful.

Thank you for being part of this next chapter.
